Am Sonntag, den 12. Juni 2022, startete die 39. Auflage des Rhein-Ruhr-Marathons in Duisburg. Aufgrund diverser Ausfälle stand leider nur eine kleinere Anzahl an Marathonis an der Startlinie, Carsten und Dominik über die Halbmarathon-Distanz und Marcel über die Volldistanz von 42,195 km.

Nach zwei Jahren pandemiebedingter Pause war der Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon die erste Großveranstaltung in unserem Laufcupjahr. Bei frühsommerlichen Temperatuen begann der Start mit ein wenig Verzögerung, weil falsch geparkte Fahrzeuge im Duisburger Stadtgebiet erst noch abgeschleppt werden mussten. Aber dann konnte das Laufspektakel durch zwölf Duisburger Stadtteile starten. Traditionall feuerten viele Anwohner:innen die Teilnehmer:innen lautstark an und sorgten somit für einen Extraschub Motivation. Dazu gehörten auch diverse Samba-Bands und Trommlergruppen entlang der Strecke.
